Switch Witch

Does the “Switch Switch” visit your house after Halloween?
“Who is the Switch Witch?” you ask. According to a CNN article, many parents are concerned with how much candy their kids consume around Halloween. In order to keep their kids happy but limit intake, some are devising interesting deals.
One mom has convinced her kids that the Switch Witch comes the night after Halloween, sort of like an anti-cavity tooth fairy. The more edible treasure you leave out for her, the bigger toy she will leave for you.
So,

The kids told me what toy they would like from the Witch, kinda like they would tell Santa. Then on Sunday night, we let each kid pick 14 pieces of candy. That sounds like a lot, but if you saw the amount of candy they received, its not that much. And basically its only 2 pieces of candy a day, for one week. Then we put all the candy in the Halloween bowl and put it on the mantle above the fireplace. On Monday, we checked the bowl and sure enough, the Switch Witch came! She left Hailey exactly what she wanted, a new Barbie with some Barbie clothes! She left Bubby a new firetruck! Both kids were so happy about their new toys, they forgot about giving up the candy! We love the Switch Witch!

But I think she hates Mommy's behind! That seems to be where all the candy is going!!!

Happy Halloween!!

Tonight is Halloween and the the kids are all tucked away in their beds, sound asleep! They are wore out! They were both so cute tonight and had a wonderful time! We had a few stops to see our loved ones before our trick or treating fun began. Our first stop was to see Doug & Leona, our super sweet neighbors that live behind us. Leona had not gotten home yet, but Mr. Doug was more than happy to pose with the kids! Thanks Doug!

From Doug's house we went to see Honey... it was a quick visit of candy, a cheer and a picture. Thanks Honey!

After Honey's house we ran to see Nana & Daddy Don. They had fun watching the kids, and giving them candy. Hailey did a cheer again and we took another quick pic. Thanks Nana & Daddy Don!

We left Nana's house and went to Dee Dee and Pop's. They are so sweet and they let us have dinner with them. Then the kids and I went trick or treating around their neighborhood. It was so much fun. Here are the kids at their first house:

Here is the very scary house that scared both kids. There was loud spooky music, ghost floating around the yard and scary masked people. Hailey took off running and Harris wrapped himself around my legs.

Once we got to a calmer house, Hailey stepped back and let Harris start knocking on the door. She decided all by herself that it was his turn. Such a great big sister!

Busy Day to End the Weekend

Sunday was another busy day... Aunt Libby came to visit us today. She met us at church then had lunch with us! We were so glad that she came all the way to see us! We love you, Libs!


After lunch, we went home and got Hailey ready for her cheer pictures. I was able to snap a couple of quick ones, but I can't wait until the real ones come back!



After the pictures and rest time, we went to a Trunk or Treat, that a friend invited us to. After just a few stops, Harris really had the hang of holding his treat bag up and saying Trick or Treat! Both kids left with lots of candy!



After Trunk or Treat we were all hungry and Daddy suggested that we go to Firehouse Subs for dinner. Harris fit right in with the theme of the restaurant!

While we haven't had much down time this weeekend, whenever we did Daddy and the kids took the train track off the table and moved to the floor. They would build one track, play with it for a few minutes then take it apart and build a completely new track. They had so much fun doing this. I think its time for some new track pieces so they can make it even bigger!

Whew! Busy Day!

Cheer

To start the day, Hailey had a game today against the Bills, at 8:30 am. The girls did great and our guys won! Go Lions!

Fire Department
After the game, we rushed right over to meet Dee Dee at the fire station. She found out they were having a fire safety expo and we all were so excited to take Harris (& Hailey)!

We got to watch the helicopter land and look around it. Then we got to try on the fireman's gear! I even got in on the action! And the kids loved shooting the water hoses!

Busted Lip
Poor Harris! I don't know what was wrong with him this weekend, but he kept falling and getting hurt! This time he was running and fell and caught his face on the drawer to the train table. He had gotten a train out of the drawer earlier and didn't push it back under the table. He really busted his lip and cut the top gums. Lots of blood and tears, but he is ok now!

Hoot n Howl
After recovering from the busted lip, taking naps, and having dinner, we went to a gathering called a Hoot N Howl. The kids get to walk around and play games, watch different dance classes perform and of course photo ops for mom! The kids got to practice saying Trick or Treat and they received their first Halloween candy of the year!

It was a very busy day, but we all had tons of fun being together, especially since Daddys home!!

Campfire Stories

Tonight we went to the Hurst Rec Center Campfire Stories. We did this last year and had fun, so we went again. You sit around a campfire in a park, and roast marshmellows while several different people tell stories. We had a lot of fun but as it turns out, the kids like to eat the marshmellows without roasting them!

Mommy's Birthday

Yep, I'm another year older. Blah. And this year was very hard for me. I know my husband travels, and he has been gone on my birthday before, but this year was hard for me. It was just me and the kids. We decided if it was going to be just us, we were still going to have cake. On the way home from the kids swim class, we stopped for the cake. Hailey picked the pink cake. When the lady asked what we wanted on it, Hailey told her to write 'Happy Birthday Mommy. So thats what was on my cake!

After we got home, I babysat a friend's two kids for a couple of hours. Then after naps, the kids and I went to pick up a pizza. We had pizza and cake for dinner.

The kids sang Happy Birthday to me a couple of times. They were very cute!

Running the Field

Tonight, Hailey's cheer league got to run the field with the Trinity Trojans. The girls walked down the field to a tunnel, then ran through the tunnel part way down the field. These pictures show Hailey getting ready to walk down the field, her actually walking down the field, her running out on the field (she was the first one in her squad) and her sitting down waiting for the Trojans to do their Haka dance. Hailey had a lot of fun tonight. We had another mom who was suppose to be getting pictures too, so hopefully I will have some better ones soon! I circled Hailey in two of the pictures since she is REALLY hard to see!

Pinkalicious

I took Hailey out of school early today to go to a musical called Pinkalicious. Its about a little girl who turns pink after eating too many pink cupcakes. Hailey loved the musical! It was a special day for her to spend with just Mommy, get taken out of school and to go to the musical, thats all about PINK! This was perfect for Hailey!

While we were there, Hailey met a little girl named Madeline, and they became instant friends. We already have a playdate set up!

As we were leaving the theater, Hailey heard someone say that they were going to go eat pink cupcakes now. Hailey went crazy wanting one! So I stopped on the way home and got us all one cupcake, even Bubby! I thought it was a great way to end the fun!

Now we are hoping they come out with the musical for Purplicious!
