AAUUGGG!!!!!

Someone save me!!!! The past few days have been crazy!!!! First, Daddy and Harris were playing and Harris fell. He tripped over his own feet and fell face first into the back/side of the couch... right were the board is! He slid down the couch and it rug burned his face! Yikes!!! A week before his birthday!
Then Hailey is trying to grow up WAY TO FAST!!! Nana & Daddy Don, Honey, and William and the kids and I all went out to dinner. At dinner, Hailey announces that she has a loose tooth. Honey felt it and confirmed that she does have a loose tooth. But upon further inspection, she actually has two teeth loose... her two front top ones!! I can't stand teeth! How in the world am I going to make it through this?? I get so sick to my stomach every time she wiggles them! But to make matters so much worse, my 5 year old is shaving! That's right... Hailey is shaving her legs! I sent her to the bathroom after dinner to wash her face and hands. I realized that while I was cleaning the kitchen, she didn't come back. I went to check on her and there she sits in the bathroom floor with hand soap and razor, just shaving away! Of course she did cut herself up! (as you can see in the picture) She has very hairy legs and has been begging me to let her shave for well over a year now. Of course I have told her no. So, she balanced her little stool on the side of her tub, climbed on and managed to reach a razor at the very top of the shower caddy. I couldn't believe it! I wanted to cry. She's only 5! Whats going to happen next? Will she start dating at 6? Driving at 7?
If you have any suggestions on how to handle a 5 year old already going into her teens, please let me know!

ABC's & Superbaby

I decided to get a couple of videos of Harris. In the first one, he is singing his ABC's. I absolutely love his chipmunk voice! I will be so sad when his voice changes! And while you're watching the video, pay attention to words at the end of the song... Harris has his own version!

In this video, Harris is playing Superbaby! He has learned how to fly. Sometimes he nails the landing and other times, he misses. But, every time is very funny! Enjoy!

March of Dimes Kickoff Breakfast

The March of Dimes was having a kickoff breakfast to get every one ready and excited for this years walk. They also wanted to recognize the top 5 family teams. Last year I led our team 'Walk for Caleigh' and we were the # 5 team for raising the most money of all the family teams! (Yay! This was so wonderful and such a honor! Many, Many thanks to all of you that donated money to our team for such a wonderful cause!) Since I led the team, they asked that I come to be recognized. I decided to take Hailey. I thought it would be fun for her to spend time with Mommy and get to do something different. She had so much fun. She loved the sausage that was served and was totally in awe of the tiny preemie diaper they had on the table! She couldn't believe that she used to wear preemie diapers too!
I thought the breakfast was a great success. I was nervous and embarrassed to stand up in front of everyone, but overall I had a great time! I got to meet several people that I only have talked to on the phone. I also got to meet Amber, Peter and Lane Augustin. This is the family I have blogged about in previous post, whose house was rebuilt by Extreme Makeover Home Edition. They were very sweet and we had a wonderful time chatting. Amber's team, 'Lane & Katie's Light' was # 2 of the top family teams. Their episode of Extreme Makeover Home Edition airs March 1, 2009! Be sure to watch!

They wanted us to turn our name badges in so they could recycle them. I took a quick pic of Hailey with them. The hard hats were on our table and they were giving them away. Hailey was so cute in hers! The March of Dimes staff thought she was so cute, they called their photographer out to get pics of her before we left!
Caleigh's team is back in action again this year. Last year was a blast! With our team being honored to receive one of the top 5 family teams of 2008 award, we are hoping to do even better this year. With your help we can make it all the way to number one!
The money we raise for March for Babies will help:
...support all-important research offering preventions and solutions for babies born too soon or with birth defects
...educate women on things they can do to increase their chances of having a healthy baby
...provide comfort and information to families with a newborn in intensive care
...push for newborn screening and health insurance for all pregnant women and children.
Please visit my page to donate to Team Caleigh! (Holly, Caleigh's Mom, is leading the team this year and now our team is Team Caleigh!)

Daddy Daughter Dance

Tonight, William took Hailey to the 3rd annual Daddy Daughter Dance at our church. The church called it D3. Hailey gets so excited about going. Before I was really even up this morning, she came running into my room, already in her dress! The dance didn't even start until 7 pm! She was so sad when I made her change clothes! Daddy came home from work early and the getting all dressed and ready began. After they were both ready to go, Daddy gave Hailey an early Valentine's Day present... a new ring! This is a big girl ring (it doesn't have the pincher sizer on the bottom), complete with a 'diamond'. It fit Hailey perfectly and she loves it! She is crazy about jewelry, especially rings so this was perfect for her!

Hailey and Daddy had fun at the dance. They ate lasagna and cupcakes at the dance, did lots of dancing, and Hailey won a prize! She was so excited! Then they came home and did more dancing in the living room! It was a great evening for them.

Hailey is all ready to go! Isn't she beautiful?!

Valentine's Day parties at school

Today, both kids had their Valentine's Day party. I went to Harris' party first. He has a cute, small class...and they are all so quite! For his party, they ate fruit, crackers, cheese and then a cookie. I don't think Harris had fully recovered from his strep throat because he didn't eat any of it, and only 2 bites of the cookie! Harris never passes up sweets! Then they passed out their Valentines to their classmates. After that, the party was pretty much done and they went outside to play.

After Harris' party, I had time to eat lunch and get the goody bags and cups ready for Hailey's class party. Then in the afternoon, I went to set up for Hailey's party. Her class is pretty big, and they were all so rambunctious. When I got there they were all passing out their Valentines. Then they had cookies, cupcakes and lemonade; enough sugar to hype them up for the rest of the day!

Strep Part II

Yep, the Hennington household is sick... AGAIN!!! AAUUGGG!!!! This is NOT Hailey's winter. Harris has had a break with all his ear and sinus and upper respiratory infections. Now Hailey has gotten a tummy bug (and thrown up everywhere!), and this is her second time in less than a month to get strep throat. We got lucky the first time and no one else got sick. This time Harris got it pretty quick. Hailey seems to be better this time than the first time, but poor Harris is so sick. He hasn't wanted to do anything today, except stay in his pj's and lay on Mommy. And to top it off he broke out in an all over body rash! I tried to get a picture of it on his tummy and face but you can feel it more than see it. It feels like super fine grit sandpaper! Hopefully this is the end of the sickies for awhile! Of course, William and I are afraid we are next to get the strep. Keep your fingers crossed that we don't!

Bad day!

Ok. I love being a stay at home mom. I think its the best job ever! But doesn't everybody have a bad day sometime? Today was mine. It wasn't the kids, just life in general. I really wished I had reinforcements today. Here is my day:
I got up and got showered and dressed and went to get Hailey. She was suppose to be up and dressed but she decided to just lay in bed and watch tv. Therefore we are already a few minutes behind. I get her dressed, her bed made, then her hair done. She still doesn't have her appetite fully back so she didn't want anything to eat except a yogurt. She took forever to eat it, only for me to find out later that she didn't even eat half of it! Harris woke up earlier than normal with his throat hurting. I made Hailey's lunch and got us all loaded in the car. As I went out to the car I heard a weird noise but didn't have time to investigate. As I start backing out of the garage, my tire light came on. My back right tire was down to 22 psi from 34! That weird noice was the air coming out of my tire! As I started to drive the psi was still going down! I called Julie and went to her house. I unloaded Hailey and Julie took her on to school. I stayed with Julie's kids, but had to stand near the door so I could see the car. Since Harris has strep, he couldn't come in with the other kids. He was ok though, he was watching his movie. To top all this off... I was barefoot! I didn't worry about shoes just to run Hailey through the car pool drop off lane!
I drive back home and make Harris' dr.'s appt. It was for 9:15 but I was there at 9. The dr quickly confirmed strep and sent us off with prescription in hand. I wasn't sure where to go next, to the pharmacy or Discount Tire. As I am driving 30 mph my psi dropped to 17! Discount Tire it is! I explained to the nice men that I really needed this done quickly and needed to stay in the car with sickie boy. They completely agreed. I had 2 nails in my tire! They repaired the tire for free! Yay! I tipped the guy $5. Now, 30 minutes later we were off to the pharmacy! I dropped the prescription off and took Harris to Sonic for a shake. If you have a sore throat you need a shake, right? I waited my allotted 40 minutes and went back to the pharmacy. No go. Not ready. I wait for 20 more minutes. No go. It took about 2 hours to finally get his meds! I ended up giving him the meds in the car! Then we headed home for lots of rest. And a much calmer day! But later in the evening, I was folding clothes while standing by the bed. I went to kick the corner of my comforter out of the way, and I kicked the bed! I couldn't even stand on my foot for 20 minutes!! Ouch it hurt!
Tomorrow will be better, I just know it!

He got it!!!!!

Harris was tee tee trained back in July and has done great. He has only had a couple of accidents. But he would NOT poop train! UUGGGGG! He would wait and go in his pull up at nap time! I would even sit him on his little potty for an hour (yes, he would sit there for an hour!) before nap, but nope, he wouldn't go! As soon as I put the pull up on and put him in bed, he would instantly go! Then in January he started having tons of accidents! Even at school! I would pick him up and he would be in clothes the school has, because he had so many accidents he would go through all the clothes I sent! After 2 weeks of this craziness, I told him, if he has another accident I would take away his brand new fire truck! Of course the fire truck got taken away. After no accidents for 4 days, I gave it back and told him if he has another accident I would now take his favorite train, Gordon. That worked!!! He has not had an accident since and he even poop trained! He goes in the potty!!! He will even go to the potty by himself and come get me and tell me to come look! Sure enough he has peed and pooped in the potty! I bought chocolate squares and I give him one for each time he poops in the potty! And to top it off, he is even staying dry at nap time too! He still wears a diaper at night, as he wakes up soaked in the morning. We will work on night time later. But, after three weeks of no accidents I think its safe to say.... He Got It!!!!! And all before he turned 3! Hooray!!! Way to go Harris!!!
Here is Harris on the potty after going poo poo. He wanted M&M's this time! (And I did edit the photo to keep it G rated! Ha Ha!)

Grandparents Day

Hailey's school had Grandparents day last week. Nana and I went to the school to be with Hailey. We all went to mass together then they had a small breakfast for us. After the breakfast, we had our picture made, then hung out in Hailey's class for a few minutes. Hailey loved having us there and we had fun with her! Thanks Nana for coming to be with our sweet girl!

Sick girl

Yep, it happened again. Hailey has been sick. It seems like she was just sick not long ago. When she got up on Friday morning she told me she had a headache. I meant to give her some Tylenol before school, but I forgot. Then after school she came home and rested some. Then she came out and just wanted to lay on the couch. After a few minutes, I went and sat beside her and brushed her hair away from her face. She was a fireball! I took her temp and it was 102. I looked at her throat and it had a couple of red specks, but nothing bad. I was worried though, we had a note come home from school the week before about strep throat going around. The next morning she still had a slight fever and her throat looked terrible! Lots of red spots! I took her to the weekend clinic and sure enough she had strep! I made her stay in her room all day away from Harris and Daddy. I stayed in there with her most to the time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get it! I get it soooo easy! After the 24 hours and 3 rounds of antibiotic I finally let Hailey come out. We took Daddy to the airport and came home. Harris was so glad to get his big sister back that he just laid on her for a long time. I hope she really was past the contagious part! I hope he doesn't get it! I feel like every few hours I'm checking someones throat now! And thankfully school is out on Monday so Hailey has till Wednesday to get all well!

Hailey upset to have to stay in her room a little longer...
But Mommy can still make her laugh!

Getting ready to take Daddy to the airport...

Artist # 2

Harris has been watching Hailey and is starting to draw pictures. I think its so cute! Here is his latest picture. He did the whole picture by himself, but Mommy added the hair! Harris says this is a happy face!

Skating Weekend

Last weekend, Jamie and Lisa invited us to go skating with them. We haven't been skating since Hailey started cheerleading. We were so excited to go! But Hailey had forgotten a lot of what she had learned. She had a hard time trying to keep up with Jaycie. I promised her that I would take her to skate lessons the next day. So at 10 am the next day we were skating again! She really picked it back up and did great! She was so excited to show Daddy what she had learned, that we had to go back on Sunday!

Swim

What a big swim day! Hailey was the only one is her class today and she worked really hard. At the end of class the instructor let Hailey dive to the bottom of the pool for rings. Hailey dives down 8' in no time and comes back up with the ring. Then her instructor said that she has really watched Hailey and knows that she will love the new stroke that she will learn in the next swim session... The Dolphin. This is the beginning move to the Butterfly stroke. So far Hailey loves it! The instructor showed her one time and she was off! After I took this video, Hailey did the Dolphin the entire length of the pool, all by herself! Her instructor was very proud of how fast she picked it up. She did say, that Hailey kicks a little more than the actual move goes, but for her very first time, she looks great!

Below is a link to a video of how the Butterfly is suppose to look.... by Michael Phelps of course! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6wNjXj7zGk

Harris didn't have such a good swim day. His 'ear pugs' kept falling out, the water was burning his eyes and he was just plain grumpy. Oh well. Everyone has their off days!

Back to School... Ice... Chuck E Cheese

Wow! What a big day! I took Hailey for her first day back to school after the Christmas Holiday. And can you believe, Mrs. Wingo is back!? Yea! This is going to be great for Hailey! She was so excited! After Harris and I had been home for a few minutes we saw the ice forming. Harris loved it! He would touch the ice and say 'It cold!' Then after school Hailey had a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. It was a big day and both kids were exhausted (after they came down from their birthday cake sugar rush)!

New Year Weekend

What a great start to the New Year. Daddy had to work some of the weekend, but other than that, we have had a great family weekend. On Saturday we took about an hour drive to see some lakefront property. Later, after naps, we went to the park to play then we went to Frescos for dinner. We have never been there and it was pretty good. Even Hailey ate all her food!

Sunday, I taught my class at church and it was crazy! I had 10 wild kids today! And, yes, Harris is one of those! Then later in the afternoon we took the kids to Leapin Lizards. We hadn't been there in a long time and we thought it would be fun for them. They had a blast! Both kids had such red faces when we left and we were laughing so hard at them! Then it was off to Pizza Inn for dinner. We got there right when they opened the buffet so it was all fresh and hot and yummy!
Happy New Year everyone!
Shorts sleeves and capri's one day....
Long sleeves and jackets the next!

Happy New Year!

Wow! Can you believe it?? 2009 Already?! I think this is going to be a great year. Hailey and Harris are both at such wonderful and cute ages. Hailey thinks she is 5 going on 16. She is so smart and is doing wonderfully in Pre-K. I think she will be doing even better now that her teacher is finally going to start teaching. For those of you who don't know... Hailey's teacher hasn't been in the class at all this year because she broke her knee. Hailey has had 4 subs this year and we are so excited to have her teacher. Hailey is our princess. She loves anything Barbie, dresses, princess or pink. Harris is amazing us every day. He is a comedian! He is constantly making us laugh. He is a smart boy, but he likes to hold it in and not let you know what he has learned until HE is ready. Of course, Harris is all BOY! He loves firetrucks and trains. He loves the dirt, loves to fall down and loves to wrestle with Daddy.
I can hardly wait to see what 2009 has in store for us!
Today we all slept a little late and so we had a late lunch. Jamie and her girls met us up at Black Eyed Pea. I guess we have a tradition of eating at Black Eyed Pea on New Year's Day now. I think this was our family's 3rd or 4th year now. I love how they give everyone a small sample of peas so that everyone can have their dose of good luck! I always order a side of peas anyways!

New Year's Eve

William had to work all day, but he had the great idea to go to dinner with my grandparents, Nana & Daddy Don for New Years Eve. I called them and they dropped their plans for dinner and came with us to H3. The food was good and we all had a great time!
